A wide range of tools and resources are available to help Tasmania's tourism industry take advantage of the many benefits available through Tas e-Connect.

Tas e-Connect Learning Program

Tourism Tasmania’s Tas e-Connect team will deliver a range of tutorials for operators interested in a hands-on learning program. Topics will be designed to deliver information and skills that will help you and your staff take advantage of online distribution and marketing opportunities. Tutorials will be delivered in person and online so you can choose an opportunity that best suits you and your business.

This website will be regularly updated with new learning opportunities and you’ll be invited to register for upcoming tutorials and events as they become available.

• Managing yield in an online environment
• Using my Tas e-Connect reports effectively
• Websites that really work for your business.

Tourism E-Kit

The Tourism E-Kit is a national training tool and resource for the tourism industry. See how it can assist and improve the way you do business online. Some of the topics covered in the E-Kit include:

• Choosing an online booking system
• Finding a good web professional
• Website design and content and components of optimising a website
• Social media for tourism.

E-Learning Online Forum

An online forum is an internet discussion site.

Tourism Tasmania will be introducing an online forum to deliver selected Tourism E-Kit tutorials including Online Booking Systems and Online Distribution.

The benefits of online forums include:

• Learning materials are available when operators want to access them
• Information can be delivered in step-by-step increments and is easily navigable
• Users can discuss, question and clarify aspects of the forum topic online
• Peer to peer learning is encouraged, while moderation and expert input ensures clarity and accuracy
• Experts can contribute to user discussions, pose questions and clarify aspects of the forum topic
• Forums can be delivered cost and time effectively using open source shareware (free software that can be downloaded from the internet)
• Forum managers and participants do not require high levels of technological expertise.

Tourism Tasmania is recruiting operators to test the technical operation of the forum and its effectiveness as a learning tool.

The testing phase will be operational from July to September 2009.

Association Programs

Tourism Tasmania’s Tas e-Connect team will be facilitating a range of tailored information and skill development sessions through groups such as your local tourism associations and sector associations. These sessions will be specifically designed to meet the needs of association members.
