Marketing and development for Tasmania’s tourism industry

Women who work in the tourism sector now have a new collective voice with the launch today of the Women in Tourism (in) Tasmania networking group (WITT).
' The Minister for Tourism and the Arts, Michelle O’Byrne, officially launched WITT and welcomed the opportunity for women who work in the dynamic and diverse tourism industry, to get together to stimulate open communication, team work and good ideas.
“As well as providing a chance for women to improve their contacts and business knowledge, networks such as WITT bring a range of benefits for the broader industry,” Ms O’Byrne said.
“Tourism is a vibrant and multi-layered industry that can benefit greatly from networks like WITT that foster closer and stronger connections within the industry.”
“The ability of our tourism sector to provide exceptional visitor experiences often relies on the personal and professional networks that we all individually form.”
“Tasmania’s continued tourism success is due in part to the strong partnerships and positive relationships that exist between all levels of government, industry groups and our operators”.
“The WITT committee and members are to be commended for their initiative in facilitating and fostering another valuable industry network and partnership, Ms O’Byrne said.
Ms O’Byrne also praised the group for its commitment to supporting a worthy cause each year. This year WITT will be raising funds and awareness for the Tasmanian branch of the Breast Cancer Network Australia.
WITT members will meet bi-monthly to catch up with colleagues and hear from selected guest speakers.
