Distribution Partnerships

Tourism Tasmania knows the value of establishing formal partnerships with those selling Tasmania, and works with travel and tourism industry partners to deliver benefits for all partners.

How you sell your product is important to achieving a successful tourism business. To buy your product visitors can:

  • Buy direct with you by phone, internet or fax, or walk in the door
  • Go to a travel agent - you pay commissions and you'll need a wholesaler
  • Through websites such as quickbeds, wotif, discovertasmania.com.

Tourism Tasmania works with distribution wholesalers and retailers to develop their knowledge and understanding of what Tasmania has to offer. We have an ongoing program of activity to inform and help wholesalers and retailers up-sell and extend people's visits.

Wholesale Partners

Travel wholesalers are commercial operations that supply a broad range of travel products such as tours and accommodation packages to retail networks and other distributors.

Wholesalers extend the market reach of Tasmania’s tourism industry by distributing Tasmanian product to a wide range of partner retail outlets.

By getting involved in partner campaigns Tasmanian businesses gain greater exposure for their product. When working with wholesale distributors and online travel agencies, operators must be prepared to pay a commission to the partnering business. Any small reduction in immediate return should be more than compensated for by the increase in turnover that such marketing attracts.

Retail Partners

Tourism Tasmania maintains partnerships with a range of retail distribution networks throughout Australia.

Travel retailers source their products from wholesalers, and distribute them to consumers through various methods including retail outlets and online. 

Tourism Tasmania works closely with these retail partners to:

  • Develop appropriate Tasmanian product and package solutions
  • Develop and implement cooperative marketing activities that target defined audiences
  • Increase the level of knowledge and information available to travel agents.

Digital Partners

Digital distributors sell Tasmanian product through a range of online (digital) channels.

Tourism Tasmania works in partnership with digital distributors to:

  • Satisfy and exceed the expectations of today’s online travel consumer
  • Broaden the range of channels through which Tasmanian product can be accessed
  • Explore creative ways to take Tasmania to the world via the world wide web.

Tasmanian Operators

Tourism Tasmania works in partnership with Tasmanian operators to:

  • Facilitate distribution opportunities through a range of online and offline channels
  • Coordinate and extend their marketing and commercial activities
  • Provide marketing intelligence and other partner opportunities
  • Integrate their activity and product with Tourism Tasmania’s strategies.

Carriers

Tourism Tasmania works with air and sea carriers to develop and increase access to Tasmania. Tourism Tasmania works to:

  • Maintain current services and develop new routes and increased capacity to access Tasmania
  • Research and communicate market intelligence to carriers to identify new access opportunities for Tasmania
  • Develop marketing strategies to maintain and increase visitation from access points.
