Marketing Together Program

Tourism Tasmania's Marketing Together program offers quality marketing opportunities to Tasmania's tourism industry and encourages operators to participate in national and international marketing activities.

Marketing opportunities include placements in consumer print publications, travel trade publications, online marketing, and engagement with Tourism Tasmania in our marketing campaigns.

Each opportunity details costs, activity descriptions, conditions and critical information, and allows operators to register their interest online.

The opportunities available to industry are thoroughly researched and analysed to ensure they increase access to Tasmania’s target markets. Operators also benefit through leveraging off Tourism Tasmania’s brand and buying power.

All co-operative marketing opportunities are found on the Marketing Together website, where operators can browse the opportunities and choose the most relevant to their business interests and budgets.

The opportunities complement the seasonal campaigns run by Tourism Tasmania as well as maintain market exposure during less intensive periods. This in turn benefits operators in the shoulder and off-seasons.

Even if the current opportunities don’t suit, a knowledge of what's coming up may help operators plan for the future.

Opportunities are available to any individual business or marketing group in Tasmania.

How to access opportunities

To access the opportunities:

  1. Visit our Marketing Together website
  2. Log in or register if a first time visitor
  3. Browse the opportunities
  4. Choose 'submit an Expression of Interest' for those opportunities in which operators wish to take part and a Tourism Tasmania representative will contact you shortly to discuss your interest.

Marketing Together members receive an email alert advising them of new opportunities recently added to the website. These are sent no more than once a month.

Marketing opportunities

Print Media Marketing

Operators can advertise under the Tasmanian brand in publications that are brand aligned and that reach our target markets.

Retail Travel Agent Marketing

Tourism Tasmania offers opportunities through travel media mechanisms and through partnerships with the travel trade industry of Australia.

Online

Advertising opportunities are available in www.discovertasmania.com and our direct email newsletters - mailed bimonthly to 30,000 predominantly mainland consumers already pre-disposed to travelling to Tasmania.

Discovertasmania.com enjoys search engine dominance for Tasmanian travel searches, significant exposure generated by all of Tourism Tasmania’s print and television advertising, and attracts approximately 175,000 visits per month.

Tourism Tasmania can work with operators to create an online advertisement suitable for the different options listed below.

Participation is available on a ‘first in’ basis for each specific time period available between February and December 2009.

There are two tiers of rates offered to operators according to their level of accreditation. If any activity is oversubscribed, preference will be given to accredited operators.

Tourism Tasmania can help operators  determine the best timing and placement for their advertising on either discovertasmania.com or within our direct email newsletters.

Advertising in Tasmania – Discover Tasmania TV Series

The second series of Discover Tasmania commenced in Tasmania on Southern Cross on Thursday 23 April.

The Seven Network and its affiliates will air this second series nationally, as they did for series one, reaching 6.6 million viewers. The timing of the broadcast is anticipated to be in the early part of 2010.

During this time, Tourism Tasmania will launch a micro site to promote and provide information on the TV series. Tourism Tasmania will offer opportunities in digital media to operators who wish to leverage from the awareness created by the show.

Tourism Tasmania will advise operators of opportunities in print, radio and TV commercials during this time.

International Marketing

Tourism Tasmania provides support to export-ready tourism operators interested in actively engaging in the international travel market.

International marketing activities are provided to operators who are members of Team Tasmania.
