Tourism Tasmania offers a range of programs and services to the Tasmanian tourism industry as well as provides support and funding to tourism associations and groups.

Marketing

Tourism Tasmania conducts a range of targeted promotions and marketing activities throughout the year to promote Tasmania as a destination in our domestic and international markets as well as help connect potential customers with Tasmanian businesses. These activities focus on the best visitor prospects for Tasmania and ensures the organisation gets the best return on investment from its marketing effort and resources.

Domestic

Tourism Tasmania invests millions of dollars every year on destination advertising and promotional activities throughout Australia. Promotions and marketing activities include a range of media such as print, digital, cinema and television advertisements, advertorials, trade shows, public relations, and media articles and programs. Tourism Tasmania also has a regular online presence through social media and its consumer website www.discovertasmania.com. See Marketing

International

Tourism Tasmania actively promotes Tasmania and it's tourism experiences in selected international markets through co-operative campaigns and promotions with international partners including airlines, tour operators, wholesalers, inbound tour operators, in-market trade partners and Tourism Australia. Tourism Tasmania also provides opportunities to educate international travel buyers and help them experience Tasmania and Tasmanian tourism experiences through sales calls, trade missions, workshops and familiarisations. Visiting Journalist Program

Tourism Tasmania's Visiting Journalist Program brings media to Tasmania from targeted national and international markets to personally experience what Tasmania offers and to publish positive editorial, blogs and media stories as a result of their experience. See Visiting Journalist Program

Regional cooperative marketing

Regional cooperative marketing is an important part of Tourism Tasmania's goal of providing local communities, tourism operators and regional destinations with opportunities to promote their region and provide local holiday offers.Tourism Tasmania works closely with each regional tourism organisation to encourage greater tourism industry engagement and participation in their region in the areas of strategy, marketing, visitor information and industry development. Connecting with customers

An important part of having a successful tourism business is the ability for customers to easily connect with the business and buy what is being offered. Tourism Tasmania works with travel wholesalers and retailers to improve their knowledge and understanding of what Tasmania has to offer. Tourism Tasmania also undertakes an extensive program of activities to inform and help wholesalers and retailers up-sell and extend people's visits. See Distribution.

Stay up-to-date - news and research

How can you make informed business decisions if you don't have the latest information on our visitors or what's happening with tourism in your area, region or elsewhere in Tasmania? Tourism Tasmania helps tourism businesses and those with an interest in tourism stay up-to-date with what's happening in Tasmanian tourism.

Understanding and using visitor research

Tourism Tasmania collects and analyses research on tourism and in particular on visitors to Tasmania and our visitor markets. Tourism Tasmania publishes the Tasmanian Visitor Survey (TVS), a comprehensive survey of visitors to Tasmania. Tourism Tasmania also publishes information on consumer behaviour and market trends, cruise ship visitor statistics, social impacts of tourism on Tasmanian communities, and a range of other useful market reports relating to tourism.
